Enduring Memories
1.08 - For the Good of Our Country
Soo...What did you guys think of of episode 8 of the Event?
Things are finally falling into place. I wasn't quite expecting Jarvis to have ties with that James Dempsey fellow (he gives off a serious Senator Palpatine vibe, imo).
And that end scene...Looks like he doesn't have enough sweetener yet.
As for the Sean/Leila aspect, nothing much happened. Until we find out why Dempsey is so hellbent on eliminating those two, then their running around will continue to seem pointless.
And at first, it seemed rather random that Leila took the doctor hostage, but then I realized that she was desperate, and stuff.
I suck at deciphering emotions.
I liked the political subertfuge going-ons in the White House. Along with the actual detainee storyline, the White House struggles is the most engaging plot threads in the Event.
And judging from the promos, it looks like my other favorite thread is getting loads of spotlight.
It was a good episode, all things considered. It could have been way worse (as evidenced by some of the past episodes), but it kept me entertained for an hour, which at this point is all I'm asking for.
I guess the Event is getting booted midseason to make way for The Cape (which honestly looks intriguing), only to come back in early March.
With such low ratings, I'm not sure it'll make it past the first season. I'll continue to stick around till then, though.
Take us home, Thomas.

So, do you think the "sweetener" Dempsey takes might be some kind of youth elixir made with an extract taken from all of those prematurely aging little girls? As for the future of the show, I'm sure it'll be canceled just like everything I get into. It's a long list, with the most recent casualty being Rubicon...
