    Check.

Yes, well. You notice the writers carefully kept Liv's sister and niece and Sam Weiss out of the picture. And that Peter and Liv weren't married for X number of years- they were just starting the kind of intimacy I am talking about. And that we kept yelling at Peter- not believing he could be so dense.

In other words- it was not very believable that she did not get caught.
If Bolivia didn't get busted and have her undercover for 10 more years, fell in love with Peter, get married, etc.

I'm pretty sure if you ask her what is his favorite underwear, she will know it.

How would you know that Sen Van Horn is even married at the time the shapeshifter takes over his body? I believe we are not given a dated time here.

Heck, we don't even know if his parents were still existing or if he got a brother or sister or even a family?!

The shapeshifter could have studied the life of Senator Van Horn for YEARS before taking over his body. Any subtle change could be an indicative, but anyone who is in love with someone won't notice it. And besides, in the real world, if a close friend acts differently to you, will you actually ask him or her if she/he is a shapeshifter? Or from the parallel universe?

Patricia doesn't even know all these things. Or if she does, she will be acting like Peter.

We also showed Ray's life. That is also arguable the same way as Van Horn. But since they show both of their life, with a consistency that they can and capable of coping to a different life and settling into a new identity over time, then I don't see that problem.

The writers, as you say, may be intending that shapeshifters only acquire the appearance of the victims, and that the fake people then have to start a new life or fill in all the blanks with study and bluffing. Then, yes, it is consistent for the mom to not know the name of the daughter.

However, I still think Altliv's story shows us how "fill in all the blanks" will only work if you have a writer next to you making sure no one refers to one of the thousands of things you absolutely should know, but don't. Like obscure Greek phrases. And makes sure that the people around you who would normally be smart enough to figure out in a split second that it is OK to shoot an apparently petrified hostage, because she is an impostor- well you have to have the writers make sure those people act like dimwits.

So that would make it work, but it's pretty clunky storytelling.

Maybe the shapeshifter in the bathroom with boliva shifted into the cleaning lady and then bolivia use him/her as the shield?

Yep- we're all assuming the shapeshifter changed into the woman who came into the bathroom. But she was the mother of the girl who screamed outside- don't think she was the cleaning lady.

The question was- should the shapeshifter have had any of the woman's memories and known the daughter's name? Or do shapeshifters know nothing of their victims but what they learn externally.

I've never seen any indication that shape-shifters get the memories of the people they steal. I think that would complicate their mission. If you recall last season in the Man from the Other Side, the shape-shifters had dossiers on the people they were taking over. They obviously had to study up on the people to pull off the deception for a while.

I'd always assumed the dirndl take memories.

I liked how Peter figured out she was a shape shifter, but I can't imagine how they will/did explain the situation to the daughter - who saw her mom murdered by the FBI... and the mercury blood. Seems like a bit of a PR nightmare.
