    Default Seepferdchen

What--if any--significance does this shot have, do you think?

    1. It's the Fringe glyph for "N"
    2. It's the signature/nickname for Robert Bishop, "die Seepferdchen"
    3. It's the Atlantic suitcase logo. lol

The props people throw in glyphs all the time. They never seem to have a particular meaning.

Very true. It just caught my attention more than usual because of the huge close up. It's interesting what is filmed and how. I'd like to think nothing is without meaning but sometimes we can read a little too much into things, huh? =) they're usually more discreet when actual glyphs appear on screen.

Peter walking on the dark side is a major plot issue, so a close up of the glyph seems appropriate. And it actually IS the Atlantic suitcase logo (just looked up their website - I love their slogan "lifeīs a trip") - so maybe we are dealing with a plain case of product placement.

Yeah, product placement could be one thing or it could also be a very subtle hint at the start of the episode about its end.

I mean, we knew Peter was coming from outside, he lied to Walter, and then later tells Olivia that "Walter was being Walter" so he had to go for a walk.....but that scene where the bag's close up is shown, is like a hint that why would Peter go for a walk with a bag??? He surely went somewhere to DO something which requires some equipment which he carried in his bag.......all these answers we get at the end of the episode....

So I think that close up of the bag was kinda like a hint for the episode suspsense...

The bag itself was certainly a hint. While watching the episode it caught my attention like "hey, what does this bag mean - is Peter hiding something?" - my first guess was that he was secretely continuing research on the machine, then I forgot about it, and was really shocked by the scene in the alley. Didnīt see that coming at all. Hey, it would be fun to start a poll who honestly suspected that Peter was hunting shapeshifters from the beginning

As for the seahorse, Iīll stick with product placement, especially because of this rectangular thingy which is also part of the commercial logo. But I donīt mind that, itīs actually quite funny. I donīt care if they show the label of Oliviaīs favourite scotch or coffee, and Walter pointing out how good Coke goes along with LSD would be hilarious. I donīt live in the US, so I canīt tell if any of the munchies Walter had were related to real-life products, by the way. Were they?

We've seen the Seahorse glyph hidden in several episodes (i.e the Seahorse on the bathroom shelf in White Tulip). They often never really amounted to anything discernible.

But, yes, Robert "The Seahorse" Bishop comes to mind. I have a feeling we'll be dealing with him in some form in the future (and I do read spoilers)

the glyphs were outside Jacksonville's daycare....too
    And in the dvd box....
In season two's photo the seahorse is in Olivia's belt
The writers also used the butterflies several times before
What if you and I, both of us, at this very moment were being manipulated?

Given the way the props folk like to stick glyph-related stuff here and there, I expect they deliberately chose the brand of bag based on the logo. Whether there was any product-placement fee or not, or if they got the bag free in exchange for publicity, doesn't really matter.
