I heard the same thing, but couldn't make it out again. So I found this on the Internet.
Walter’s thoughts when first meeting Simon:
She’s another cortexiphan subject
I know what it’s like to lose someone
assume that we’re the first homosapiens
by now (cuts off)
how can we be so arrogant
This is a repetition by the writers that suggests this is an important clue that needs to be looked at more closely by the audience.
From Season 3, Episode 306, 6955 kHz:
ASTRID: You don't actually believe this? An ancient people who evolved before the dinosaurs just vanished without a trace? (stares at the content in the book Peter retrieved from Markham) It's -- it's absurd.
WALTER: (after stopping at Peter's workstation) Why should we be so arrogant as to assume that we're the first Homo sapiens to walk the Earth. History is full of extinction events... climate change, meteorites, Atlantis.
(The following spoiler relates to how the Season 3 Finale relates to this post. You may wish to see the Season 3 finale before reading this spoiler.) The Season 3 finale strongly suggests how the First People came to exist via the worm-hole. As such, this is pure irony, as the first Homo Sapiens to walk the Earth might find Astrid among them. I have been reading the Season 3 discussion, and I haven't seen any mention that the Apple glyph looks like it has two copies of Astrid in them.I haven't seen Season 4 yet, so my theories may all be wrong.
