Kate and Juliet??? LMFAO!! That was a nice one!! Anyway, I agree, this complication in a lot of ways has helped us to feel for the alternates as well...for instance, I feel really bad for Frank, who I think could start to become important to the storyline...(or atleast I hope he does)
P.S. I love your signature
Thanks!I like yours A LOT too!
I have always loved the idea of dopplegangers to explore empirical concepts, let alone interesting ways to add sci-fi to help drive the story. I feel like most of his works always come down to identity and how unique and valuable that is to humanity on individual and social basis...
Even though I don't yet approve of the alternates viewpoint, doesn't mean I don't want to attempt to understand or come to have empathy for them and I really think that this episode gave us that fork in the road for change...that red Olivia might come to see Walternate as corrupt and those characters that I love from over there (Frank, Lincoln, Mona, might explore further if we start to see their counter parts over here, or else where.
I would love for Frank to have a bigger role. I have to wonder if any Frank in either universe could end up with an Astrid!. Not that my main concern is shippers or anything, but I do like the whole package of mythos with deep relationships of all kinds. I just usually end up caring to what happens to most every character.

disappointed the writers went down the baby gate route- thought they had been so obvious that they would surprise us with something different....ho-livia dies as a result of the bugs would have had a deeper resonance... and what would be the consequence of one Olivia??? I hate the triangle thing being extended- i didn't mind it as a result of the switch...was happy just watching Peter and Olivia work through a very difficult relationship- and would have been happy to see that resolve as part of the story without all this silly stuff.I feel sorry for the actors, clearly the writing must affect how they feel about their characters who are now all over the place..no consistancy at all-
I do recognise Fringe is not a standard sci fi drama- there's a lot of psychology behind a lot of the writing- it's no co-incidence that Peter's fav book was written by a phychotherapist...and there's certainly a nod or two to Jekyll and Hyde..and Walters mental llness and drug use...blah blah...that's why it's SOOOO disappointing that the dialogue in particular has been so bad recently...it WAS clever and had lots of layers, but, this episode was soooo obvious...and usually the casting is spot on, but Walternate's mistress was probably the worst performance I've seen in Fringe.
That end scene with frank was just AWFUL.. the guy was knocking his pan out trying to make it meaningful, but the dialogue was pathetic.
BUT MOSTLY, SHAME ON THE WRITERS...LAZY LAZY LAZY
It's difficult to see why the writers are presisting in making fauxlivia so unlikeable if they want Peter to go over there....now they've decided to give Walternate some ethics it's a bit confusing...he has ethics and the 'heroine' has none- agreeing to marry a nice bloke he doesn't love.
My theory about the pregnancy was that it was engineered by Newton...he must have ensured her contraception didn't work. However- it would be stretching things to think that a man who was effectively raped, would want to take responsibility for a child he didn't choose to have...this is definitely yucky!
AND AS FOR AN EPISODE WITHOUT JOSHUA JACKSON-FORGET IT!!! HE'S ONE OF THE MAIN LEADS FOR GOODNESS SAKE- ANYONE KNOWS THAT AN AUDIENCE WILL ALWAYS HAVE FAVOURITE CHARACTERS THEY LIKE TO WATCH AND IF THEY ARE MISSING FOR A WHOLE EP, IT'S JUST RUBBISH. I KNOW THIS ISN'T FRIENDS...BUT CAN YOU IMAGINE A FRIENDS EPISODE WITHOUT THE MALE LEADS???WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH THESE PRODUCERS- DON;T THEY WANT PEOPLE TO LIKE THIS SHOW ANY MORE?
It feels like it could be the last season.
I'm not sure what they could come up with that's more important than a device that
can destroy a universe: that's a series ending plot line right there, not something you use when you want to keep going for 2 more seasons.
Therefore, unless there isn't a clear resolution this season concerning the device and Peter, I don't see what they could have planned for season 4 that's going to generate more importance/drama/interest for people to care.
Fringe feels like it's supposed to be a 3 season show, not a 5 season show like
I've seen mentioned in some interviews.
The concept it revolves around doesn't allow for a prolonged show unless you start
padding time with tons of filler episodes, which nobody interested in serial shows cares about: the focus should be the mythology and based on what we currently know, the stakes can't get much higher.
@ Jersey Shore -
Yes, reality shows are less "real" than many think. The Hills was the only one that has admitted to actually having scripts (as in writing on bound paper telling them exactly what to do). Most other reality shows have set-up situations (no pun intended) and they are nudged by the producers into doing things/acting certain ways etc. Still even if Jersey Shore had a script or actual storyline, I find using that example for a "plot-line" amusing nonetheless.
@Angel -
Being a huge Whedon fan, I want to point out that Season 4 of Angel and the "evil" Cordelia pregnancy giving birth to an adult Jasmine is considered by most fans as the low point of the entire Buffyverse. I even met Charisma at Buffycon in Boston in October and even she has a sense of humor about it. (The other pregnancies on that list are not exactly examples of exemplary plot-lines in their relevant shows as well).
And I agree season 5 was a great reboot, and a breath of fresh air after season 4. They were at least informed of the cancellation with enough time to wrap up the last few episodes on their terms (and did well under the circumstances).

Last season??? May it not be so!!! come on, at least a couple more........
They're betting high....this cant be the last season!
I think they dont want to reveal it this 'soon', maybe that's part of the nerve wracking plan of theirs!
What if you and I, both of us, at this very moment were being manipulated?
In a recent interview they said that the planned next season will continue from the storyline this season, and the fifth would be rooted in topics from season 1. They still have a lot of unfinished mythology to deal with and will likely end this season on a cliffhanger (not fully resolving items such as the First People, ZFT, other background history, the involvement and true nature of characters such as Nina, Sam, Bell, etc.)
Well, the show has been performing less than expected rating-wise in recent months (especially compared to it's first season) so it's either going to be canceled or picked up for another season. Could be either one right now.
