^^ Thanks. I haven't actually paid attention to what Fauxlivia was wearing so I was a bit confused why people are discussing the color of her underwear![]()
Olivia always wears black bra's, whereas Altlivia wears white. It's a nice little distinction between the two.
About the tattoo: I know that it doesn't regrow! It's a tattoo!
But I had thought that she would get it redone as sone as possible so no one can notice that something is different. Remember the first thing they did was to give OurLivia the tattoo. Why not redo it for Altlivia? Frank at least might have noticed. And even Charlie and Lincoln are close enough to notice it.
ETA: Sorry, jophan beat me to it.

Plus, its always nice to have Anna in her underwear!
Yeah, but toward the end Olivia was having to fake it just like Fauxlivia was...I don't know, it wasn't much time that she was back to knowing herself, and she spent most of that little time trying to get out, but I would think someone would have picked up on something.
And I initially commented on the bra because it was one of the subtle ways the producers emphasized which Olivia was which, but admittedly, part of me might have just commented on the bra because it's Anna Torv in a bra. I may be straight, but I give that two
My guess is that it's one of those little details that Walternate and Brandonate simply forgot about or overlooked. Since that IS "their" Olivia it wouldn't occur to them that they have to convince anyone of this fact once she returned, unlike with Ourlivia.Remember the first thing they did was to give OurLivia the tattoo. Why not redo it for Altlivia?

I wonder if Walternate and Brandonate are withholding replacing the tattoo as an insurance policy if they need to eliminate Fauxlivia.
Or, I can see her peers questioning her identity and one of her formerly identifying marks was that tattoo. Without it, she has one less way to prove who she is, should Fauxlivia need to.
Or, maybe it's the way our Olivia can con her way back into the good graces of the AltFringe division, should she ever need to revisit the other side! (wild speculation)
It caught my eye as well:
The Fringe "Bridge Motif" in framed pictures seen throughout the show continues as well...(usually b&w photos of frame or tressle bridges resembling that of the famous bridge from "The Man from the Other Side")...
From Firefly:
and the infamous bridge...

The glowing bird in the painting is, most likely, a reference to Carlos Castaneda, previously namechecked in 3.12 (in William Bell's bookshelf in the storeroom). For example:
Together with the steel bridge, the paintings invoke a "connection to another universe". Its a very nice touch.
Castaneda had a special place for birds in his mythos, because of the idea of a different kind of vision, and JJ Abrams has an affection for Castaneda, according to Wikipaedia, one of the books in William Bell's library is also a gift on Lost.
Olivia has a bit of this mystic vision -- the "glow" seen around Peter, for example.
The implication of the paintings for as prosaic and un-mystical a personality as Fauxlivia is significant. Despite having been to another universe, she hasn't to this point shown a shred of the mystical, nor much curiousity . . . and her readiness to marry in RedVerse suggests that she "knows where she belongs" and was intending to close the door to opportunities in other places.
It also suggests a change coming for Fauxlivia (?) . . . Castaneda has to become the crow (literally) in order to "see".

It definitely seems that the life experiences are going back and forth for the Olivia's. What has been said or done in one world seems to manifest itself in some form in the other. One experience would be the joking around between Fauxlivia and her boyfriend about not recognizing each other and when how Frank noticed something not quite right...they were not "in synch" which, in light of the revelation of the machine and Peter, is a noteworthy description. Our Peter and Olivia are not "in synch". Instead Peter and Fauxlivia seem to be that way on an emotional level.
Anyway, Fauxlivia will most likely start learning about how our Olivia has suffered a lot of loss and how she has had to rise the occation to keep going. I do not know if Fauxlivia has the same level of "protectiveness" of people. Doing the job is one thing but the level of self-sacrifice is another.
