    Default I'm sorry but

does anyone else just crack up during that first scene with Peter and Olivia and breakfast when Peter says he saw their relationship and it was "beautiful" ? Sorry, but I just find it the most hilarious thing ever
Oh Peter, there are so many other adjectives you could have used like: good, awesome, amazing, the best, better than anything I'd ever imagined...

    "good, awesome, amazing, the best"

trite and bland. They don't really tell you anything. It's how I describe a good meal.

"better than anything I'd ever imagined"

    Sounds like an insincere line.

Beautiful is simplistic, evocative and most of all, it sounds sincere.

    IDK .... yes and no.

Granted, it was extremely cheezy and out of character for the Peter we know thus far, imo.

But on the other hand, if he was just being a completely open, and honest, and VULNERABLE person ... then what he said was just that. He was being completely vulnerable and honest with Olivia. Cheezy doesn't apply when people are just being emotionally naked before each other.

On the one hand, it was one of the cheeziest scenes in Fringe thus far ... but on the other hand, it was one of the most mature moments I've seen out of Peter. He behaved like a vulnerable and merciful creature. In fact, for almost the entire episode he did ... towards Walter, Olivia, etc and so forth. He behaved like a loving son, an understanding "partner" for Olivia, a mature investigator.

I don't like the fact that we just came off the idea of a "weaponized Peter" who lies and cons, and now to this ... this "perfect son/husband/father/confidant/FBI consultant Peter". The transition was too quick and slick. But ... if this is the Peter we will now see for a couple of episodes, and not a whiney drama-queen ... then good for him. He said all the right things, because he spoke from the heart. Simple as that.

I think Peter's dialogue for this episode was great overall. This stands in contrast to Reciprocity where the dialogue written for his character sucked. I personally had no problem with his use of the word "beautiful".

I liked it--that he said beautiful-
Awesome, cool and all those other words dont sound like Peter...

Default Look at it from Peter's perspective.

If you try to see the moment from the perspective of a man who has a deep-seated sentimental side than his use of the word beautiful would seem perfectly natural. Try to see things from Peter's perspective, Peter didn't have the opportunity to enjoy a stable functional life at home growing up because Walter was losing his mind and his mother was both grieving for her real son and trying to cope with the lie that she and Walter were living. The only real experience Peter had with a normal loving family was with his real mother and Walternate but the vast majority of those memories are lost to him (probably because Walter subjected him to routine electrical shock therapy ), though he may still have a subconscious sentimental longing for the stable and loving environment he enjoyed with his real parents. With that in mind it's definitely understandable how someone like Peter can appreciate more than most the idea of an intimate relationship at home with someone that he loves and trusts completely.

Some people grow up in homes with stable, loving, healthy and supportive families and others do not, Peter is definitely the latter and likely sees in Olivia a chance at the normal life that was stolen from him when Walter whisked him away from the other side and failed to bring him back.

But if you were going to pick out a moment from this episode that came across as cheesy how about when Peter and Olivia kiss the first time in the bar and Olivia pulls back because Peter is 'sparkling'

who was cringing at some of Peter's dialogue. But, I think Peter's an undercover romantic, so that's why he's a bit cheesy when expressing his feelings to Olivia. Albeit a bit awkward. My only problem is his "That's where you draw the line?" bit.

Yeah, it was clever when he said it to Fauxlivia, but now... it's getting kinda clicheed.

Is it just me? But this is the first Fringe in a long time when I have to rewatch it over and over again on DVR. I was a bit meh about the episode before when I first watched it -- I guess partly because of last week's disappointment, but it seems that Fringe is back in form.
