Thumbs down 3.16 "Os" - Disappointed

This thread is only for aspects of 3.16 "Os" that has left you feeling disappointed. We believe that people have the right to enjoy Fringe whilst not necessarily loving everything about a particular episode.

There is, of course, a line between flaming, bashing and abuse. These things we won't tolerate. But you are, of course, allowed to say if you were disappointed by certain aspects and explain your reasons why in a constructive and mature way.

Feel free to stop by the main discussion thread to share your overall thoughts, or post new threads for specific tangents!

I'm not happy with the ending. I hate supernatural crap.

But the rest of the episode was great.

Quite possibly the most unfulfilling and hokie episode yet imo. I'm almost sorry I watched it.

The script for the characters was deplorable ... totally wasted on fine actors and actresses. The interaction between Peter and Olivia was forced, and the same went for everyone else. And the scene with the son and his father at the jail cell ..... completely worthless and shallow.

The science was flim-flam at it's finest: Scoobie Doo has had more intriguing ideas and mystery. Each idea the show presented had absolutely no basis in anything, and relied on complete suspension of belief in order to even watch the characters take themselves seriously.

The only two redeeming aspects? Peter making that leap to save the floater ... and Peter coming clean with Olivia.

And Olivia's accent? I've only watched her use it in one scene thus far and I'm already annoyed and snickering. Another reveal totally wasted, and whoever encouraged her to speak in an accent should be fired immediately.

Even if we have answers revealed to us later as to why the soul magnet/bell works the way it does, or the "two wrongs make a right" physics .... this episode left me not even caring one wit .

Fringe quite possibly just jumped it's shark.

Two thumbs waaaaaaay down. Down down down like osmium.

This was another "meh" episode for me.

I am just not nearly as excited about going into the end of this season as I was with S2. The end of season 2 was stellar, and while I'm still hoping for some big pay-off with this season I am so far underwhelmed.

Wow, you've got to be kidding me. Can we not have just one episode without someone saying this?

I'd agree. While i did enjoy the little P/O moments this episode just felt empty. They could have done much better with the whole science behind the floating element thing. I really wished there was more action, the Fringe what we know where theres a chase, someone gets a the crap kicked out of them, and Peter and Olivia end up cuddling in the end.

It felt rushed and I just couldn't get into it for the most part. It was good in some aspects but at the same time I think they could have definitely made it a lot better.

Whoever said the acting skills were wasted, I'd have to agree. Walter rambled a lot, Astrid got shafted within the story, Nina didn't seem like her normal self and maybe a little over acted, Peter was meh, and the way Olivia changed the voice over to mimic Bell was a bit cheesy, SO not like the way Anna plays Olivia at all. I really hope Bell doesn't stay for long, cause that'll break my P/O shipper heart. All i wanted was a P/O cuddle scene and some more bang bang!!!! (Although it was nice to see a smile on Olivia's face!)

I wasn't thrilled, and thought it could have been done much better, but its not going to make me NOT watch the show, but here's to hoping next week's episode is better, and the week after picks back up. I want guns blazing, blood, and snuggling!

I've noticed that Josh Singer's writing is weak, replete with cheesiness.

Nothing new there. I have yet to see any realistic science in ANY of the Fringe episodes. Doesn't stop me from enjoying it, though. I don't really think of Fringe as hard science fiction. I think of it as soft science fiction, or urban fantasy. Sort of like a comic book. I mean, Superman or Spiderman are not based on real science, and neither is Star Wars, but they are still worth watching. At least, that's how I see it.

I agree. The science of Fringe has never really been believable. And the fact that the universe is degenerating means that the laws of physics no longer apply in every instance. Still enjoyable, nonetheless (especially for sci-fi junkies).

Angry I hate supernatural crap, too- Search for Spock redux

This show is definitely going in the wrong direction if they're going to start in with the possession thing. Maybe the ending will all work itself out in the waiting room of heaven, eh? Yuck.

Plus, this is so much like Search for Spock it's ridiculous- Nemoy's consciousness is once again at large, with his best friend trying to get him back. This isn't a tribute, it's a rip-off. Remember that was one of the least popular Treks.
