Default New York Extends Film Tax Credits

There was a blurb in a local Vancouver free daily saying that New York extended the film tax credit. Two of the facts in the blurb contradicted each other, so I looked on Reuters to verify. NY did extend the tax credits for one year in the amount of $350 million. The full article at Reuters is at: http://www.reuters.com/article/indus...5307Z120090401
(Hopefully it's ok to have put that link there!)

I wonder what this will mean for Fringe.

Obviously I did not read far enough down the article....

"As a result, Warner Bros. Television has moved production of its hit science-fiction series "Fringe" to Vancouver and no pilot shows are due to be filmed in New York this year, compared with 19 last year."

I wonder if the above holds true.

Default Fringe filming dates

The Directors Guild of Canada - BC division lists the filming dates for Fringe as June 24, 2009 to March 10, 2010.

The downtown area, as well as any games venue, will likely be a logistical nightmare prior to and during both the Olympics and Paralympics. If you live in 'blocked' areas I read that you'll need to show proof in order to go to your home!

I can't believe it, Vancouver is only half an hour from where I live. I would so love to see them film some time Maybe I'll be able to get some small clues about season 2.

Default Vancouver makes for eerie shots...

Vancouver does make for eerie shots though - which is perfect for Fringe. The X-Files was never as good when it moved to L.A. to film. The only exceptions were the storylines to do with the Navajo elders (at least that's what I vaguely recall) as those were set in the desert.

Nice Abbs - even darker streets? Are you saying we don't get sunshine in Vancouver?! We do get a fair bit of the liquid sunshine variety... aka rain.

It might be fun for the Olympics.

Who in the Vancouver,, BC area will be working or going to school during those dates? Surely production will not be going on during that time. Maybe it'll be worked in as part of a Winter Break.

*sigh* What an awesome party that would be!

Looks like June 24 is indeed the date that production starts up:

I've also updated the thread title to reflect the date.

Hmmm. My brother lives in Bellingham and often shops in Vancouver---I'll have to send him scouting.

Default Good News for Anna and Mark

Since Mark's new show, Human Target, will also be filming in Vancouver, it's a great break for Anna. Being able to work and be in the same city.
