There's something so cool about this appearance. I do think that it suits them to show him so vaguely due to the speculated absense of Michael Cerveris, but it's good the see the Observer at the scene of what I guess we would still call a "Pattern Event".
Perhaps interesting to note that his cylinder beacon-thing was remarkable due to the vibrations..and here we see Loeb's crew vibrating the wall (as they did with the safe in 1.08) so that they can steal a "time-travel" device. |

I was thinking the same thoughts on the cylinder thing, especially when Walter done the test with "G.I.Joe" guy in the rice. Made me think that this is a possible explaination on how the cylinder was able to travel through the Earth with it's distictive vibrations.

First time posting here, but I've been following the show and boards.
...I think I just realised something about the Cylinder. Perhaps it was the inspiration for the search for the Equation in the first place? As in, Jones' crew knew about it so many years ago - and this is why they've been looking for the equation - because they know it's possible. |

The main difference that I can see with the cylinder comparison is that it didn't phase through the surface of the earth - according to Broyles, it shattered the ground, the explosion killing 3 constructions workers..and then it just rested upright on the ground (which seems to be somewhat of a contradiction, as it happens) Whereas the harmonic vibrations in TE and Safe allowed objects to phase through solids (including what would be the 'surface' of those objects) without visibly damaging the structure - unless they lose the 'grid' and then the phasing object becomes stuck and has to be forced out. That said, it's only a subtle difference..a difference, but a subtle one. |
